Chris’s journey in broadcasting started out by accident. Studying a BSC IT at the University of Pretoria, he joined Tuks FM (a campus community station) in his 3rd year on a whim – obtaining a position on the coveted lineup. From there he managed to find a career for over 13 years that included working on all major radio broadcasting platforms – online, community, retail, international, and commercial in South Africa. Chris has hosted one of the biggest shows on SA premier radio broadcasters Highveld Stereo, interviewing some of the worlds greatest superstars including Skunk Anansie, Ciara, Shirley Manson and Adam Lambert, has MC’d at sold out concerts, and created his own online station ‘Random Radio’. Chris has presented his own shows, co-hosted some of the greats and has produced for ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’, as well as the number one night time show locally, with Stacey Norman.
Chris’s journey has created an even larger vision for himself by inspiring young talent to be the new torch bearers of the entertainment world. He currently assists several community radio stations and has recently completed the first textbook in South Africa on radio broadcasting, “A Word On Radio”, which has been used extensively in colleges and campuses.
Broadcasting is Chris’s passion, and he’s aggressively involved in training young broadcasters. We’re honoured to have Chris at #ICON2019, sharing his skills and knowledge to the next generation of South African and podcasters and content creators.
